As a freelance artist I know sometimes it's helpful to have another set of eyes/ears take a walk through a new work, sketch, concept, or life plan. One of the things I'm most grateful for is the opportunity to help young composers make discoveries about who they are and what music can do. It is so deeply rewarding to help students cultivate their musical language and technique, meet artistic challenges, and articulate the music that is in their hearts and minds.
I am fortunate to be on the composition faculty at The Curtis Institute in Philadelphia, PA, and I’ve recently been appointed to the composition faculty at The Juilliard School in NYC where I teach a course called ‘Theatre Etudes’ and will maintain a private teaching studio beginning in the Spring of 2023.
In addition to these appointments you can find me over the summer months teaching at different music festivals around the world.
I hope to see you - and hear you! - soon,
ABK
